Some 500 positions, including 200 to 250 in Switzerland, are affected by the new operational efficiency measures recently announced by the insurer Helvetia. Some of these jobs will be relocated abroad, the St. Gall group said on Friday.

As for online insurance Smile, the group has stopped its expansion in Spain, first wanting to focus on the synergies between its Iberian subsidiaries Helvetia Seguros and Caser. “The relevant teams and customer relations in Spain will be integrated into Helvetia,” the spokesperson added in an email.

These decisions have no impact on Smile’s strategy in Switzerland and Austria. Financial repercussions are not expected.
In mid-December, the group indicated that it wanted to increase its operational efficiency by more than 200 million francs and improve the combined ratio, to 95.4% in the first half, by around 2 percentage points by the end of the first half. three-year cycle, end of 2027.
