Stade Rennais does not look satisfied and continues to want to strengthen itself during this winter transfer window to secure a European place at the end of the season. The Breton club has already formalized the arrival of Seko Fofana and should do so very soon with Brice Samba. While the leaders had inquired about two OM defenders, Chancel Mbemba and Bamo Meïté, without taking any action, Jorge Sampaoli would like to recruit a key element and executive of the Marseille locker room, Valentin Rongier. A player he knows very well since he was his coach at OM during the 2021-2022 season.
OM closes the door to a departure from Rongier
RMC Sport reveals today that discussions between Rennes leaders and Olympians date back to the end of November and the beginning of December when Rongier was lacking playing time at OM. Double blow for the Bretons since he has become a major player in the eyes of Roberto De Zerbi but above all the categorical refusal of the Marseille management to sell his player even though his contract is at the end of 2026. The French midfielder feels fulfilled, important to the club but Rennes has not given up and should return to the charge during the month of January.
