Before looking ahead to 2025, it is time to take stock review of the month of December for the players of our department.
A new coach for Noé Lebreton and Mohamed Hafid
In Ligue 2, the Manchois of SM Caen Noé Lebreton and Mohamed Hafid are going through a delicate period in their young careers. The two friends will discover a new coach since Nicolas Seube, the coach who saw them grow from the youth categories, was fired at the start of the week.
These offensive players of the generation 2004 will now evolve under the orders of the Portuguese Bruno Baltazar, who will have the difficult task of handing over the SMC, 16e of Ligue 2, right side up. “We want to come back and pull out all the stops in the second half of the season. I want us to find the real Noé on the pitch,” the native of La Haye-Pesnel told Sport in Caen.
The Cherbourg resident Hafid has been absent from the professional group since October, but he will perhaps have his say in 2025 with a new technician.
Frédéric Guilbert in Suarez mode
In Serie A, Lecce, Frédéric Guilbert's Italian team, is also in difficulty (17e). The Valognais is well established as holder at left backbut he stood out on December 21 against Lazio Rome.
On a strike from a Laziale player just before half-time, the defender was excluded just for having replaced his goalkeeper by saving the ball with his arm on the line, like the Uruguayan Luis Suarez against Ghana at the 2010 World Cup. Unfortunately for him, the penalty was converted and Lazio won two goals to one.
What about Péan, Lepenant and Lemeray?
Sullivan Péan is doing its utmost to help Villefranche recover but its team is still second to last in National. The former Tourlaville goalkeeper also wore the captain's armband against Dijon at the beginning of December (1-0 victory), proof of the importance he occupies within the Beaujolais team.
Johann Lepenant is still as important in Antoine Kombouaré's team, which is taking the lead in the championship (14e). The Granvillais is thriving in a more offensive role than usual, and has only missed three matches since the start of the championship.
Mathis Lemeray also has significant playing time with the Luxembourgers Swift Hesperange. However, the results are not as satisfactory as at the start of the season, his formation being 4e seven points behind leader Differdange. The former Avranches defender, originally from Montebourg, will try to revive his team in the second half of the season.
