The Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM) issued a yellow alert on Thursday evening for slippery conditions across the entire Belgian territory, with the exception of the Coast, until Friday morning.

During the night from Thursday to Friday, the temperature fell below zero degrees in the interior of the country, announcing the return of frost. The weather will be sunny north of the Sambre-et-Meuse furrow on Friday morning, while the sky will be generally gray to the south with reduced visibilities. After a cold morning with light frosts inland and locally slippery conditions, temperatures will increase to values of -2 or -3°C in the Hautes Fagnes and 6°C on the Coast.

The wind will blow moderately from west to southwest inland. At sea, it will be rather moderate to quite strong from the northwest, according to forecasts from the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM).

This evening and night, the sky will be cloudy and a few winter showers may mainly affect the north-east of the country. Clearings will also be present, particularly in the west. The minimums will range from -5°C in the Ardennes to 0 or 1°C at the sea, under an often weak southwest wind.

SATURDAY

Saturday morning, clearings will still be possible despite sometimes numerous low clouds. In the afternoon, the sky will become cloudy as a disturbance approaches from . This will only reach the country during the night from Saturday to Sunday, but the first precipitations are expected to be wintry before the rain arrives. The maxima will be between -2°C in the Ardennes and 3°C in the plains, under a weak wind which will return to the south-east.

Sunday

On Sunday, the sky will be very cloudy to overcast with quite a bit of rain. In the early morning, slush will temporarily still be possible in the northeast. In the afternoon, the weather will be drier with rather intermittent rain. It will be milder with maximums of 5 or 6°C in the Ardennes, 11°C in the center and 13°C in the west.
