The investigation continues, after the explosion this Wednesday, January 1, of a Tesla vehicle – Cybertruck model – in front of a hotel belonging to Donald Trump. According to the first elements of the investigation, the victim who was killed during the explosion and who was inside the vehicle at the time of the incident had a gunshot wound to the head, announced the Las Vegas sheriff this Thursday 2 January. “We discovered, through the medical examiner’s office, that the individual had suffered a gunshot wound to the head before the vehicle exploded,” said Kevin McMahill, suggesting suicide, but specifying that the body had yet to be identified formally.

According to our colleagues at CNN, who cite a police source close to the investigation, the passenger in the vehicle who was killed during the explosion has been identified. The victim’s name was Matthew Alan Livelsberger. The man was part of the Green Berets, a special force belonging to the American army. The latter was a master sergeant in charge of army special operations. Livelsberger was normally on duty with the 10th Special Forces Group, sent to Germany, but at the time of the incident, the Green Beret was on leave.

“Motivations” that still remain unclear

The motivations of the suspect responsible for this explosion remain “unknown”, specifies the FBI. “The motivations remain unknown at this stage […] “We don’t have information that allows us to say with certainty or suggest that this was motivated by any particular ideology,” FBI agent Spencer Evans said at a news conference.
