What do Jean-Marie Le Pen, Clint Eastwood, Giorgio Armani and John Williams have in common? Well, according to the Deathlist website, they all share a potential doom in 2025.
Every year since 1987, an anonymous “committee” has prepared a list of 50 international figures who, according to them, are most likely to die in the next 12 months. Internet users can suggest names, but the selection and ranking processes remain obscure.
A “deathlist” that obeys strict rules
On the site, we can still find three essential rules for the selection of candidates:
– The personalities must be sufficiently well known for their death to be reported by the British media.
– They can’t be famous just because they might die soon.
– And finally, only 25 names from the previous year’s list can reappear.
As you will have understood, the list is rather focused on Anglo-Saxon countries, even if we can find French personalities there every year.
A single French personality: Jean-Marie Le Pen
In 2024, six figures mentioned in the list have effectively disappeared, including former US President Jimmy Carter, who died on December 29.
For the coming year, the 2025 list includes international figures from different backgrounds: politics, cinema, sport… On the French side, Jean-Marie Le Pen, former president and founder of the National Front, occupies 15th place in the ranking.
At his side, we find well-known figures like Clint Eastwood, the legendary Hollywood actor and director, the composer John Williams known for his legendary soundtracks (Star Wars, Harry Potter, etc.) and the Italian designer Giorgio Armani.
If this list attracts attention, it is above all because of its sinister side and dubious taste. The fact remains that it has no scientific basis and does not claim to really predict the future.
