For centuries, humanity has asked itself a nagging question: why do we cheat? The reasons, or justifications, have of course evolved. In a society that is becoming more and more tolerant of polyamory and other unconventional forms of love, it seems paradoxical that infidelity is still so prevalent in relationships. Far from being a subject to be taken lightly, cinema has been a means of exploring these complex feelings. Personally, it’s through the series Desperate Housewivesat the age of 12, that I really began to understand this delicate subject. Perhaps not the healthiest way to approach the question, but I believe that the 7th art often offers keys to deciphering our most confused emotions, whether it is sadness, fear, love or of broken heart.
Whether you are looking for a deep reflection on human relationships or a particularly satisfying revenge story, here is a selection of films on infidelity, both touching and humorous, which will make you laugh and cry .
