More fear than harm. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) opened an investigation after a incident occurred on December 27 at the airport of Los Angelesin the United States.

A private jet carrying the Gonzaga University men's basketball team nearly crossed the runway as a plane was taking off.

“Air traffic controllers ordered Key Lime Air Flight 563 not to cross a runway at Los Angeles International Airport because a second plane was taking off from the runway at the time.”the FAA said in a statement.

“When the Embraer E135 aircraft crossed the stop bars, air traffic controllers asked the pilots to stop. The jet never crossed the runway edge line.”

The incident was captured on video and posted on social media. A controller can clearly be heard saying “Stop, stop stop” and the little plane stops immediately.

Students “unaware”

“Our team members on board the aircraft were unaware of the situation and we are grateful that the incident ended safely for all”reacted this Monday Gonzaga University, whose men's basketball team faced that of UCLA, in a press release sent to the Associated Press.

“Key Lime Air prides itself on its training and piloting model, a regime that demands the highest skills in the industry today. The safety of those entrusted to us is our top priority,” said Jon Coleman, senior vice president of the company, in a statement broadcast Saturday by NBC 4. “We are working with our own safety management system and the FAA to determine the facts and will respond accordingly.”

“Delta Flight 471 operated normally and we are not aware of any communication from the FAA regarding this flight. We are cooperating with aviation officials in their investigation.”reacted the American company Delta.
