Nearly three tons, 5.69 m long, 2.40 m wide… Tesla’s Cybertruck is a behemoth. Mentioned for years by Elon Musk, it has been on sale since the end of 2023 in the United States for the modest sum of $79,990. But one of them exploded, Wednesday January 1st, in front of the Trump Hotel from Las Vegas, in Nevada, in the west of the country, relays Le Monde.

One person died inside the vehicle, according to the city sheriff. Seven people suffer minor injuries. As a precautionary measure, the hotel was evacuated. In images posted on social networks, a gray Cybertruck electric vehicle, parked in front of the hotel entrance, explodes in a huge cloud of smoke. “We now have confirmation that the explosion was caused by large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the back of the rented Cybertruck and that it was not linked to the vehicle itself”said Elon Musk, the boss of Tesla. The rear of the vehicle contained cans of gasoline et large fireworks mortars. An investigation has been opened to determine the cause of this explosion.
