Squid Game Season 2's Frustrating Ending Explained
“When I wrote the scripts for seasons 2 and 3, it was a single story arc. I initially wanted to write 8 or 9 episodes but, once finished, the season had 10 and it was too long. I wanted to a fitting point for the conclusion that introduces season 3” explains Hwang Dong-hyuk who wanted Gi-hun to go from loser to vigilante who returns to the competition to put an end to it from the inside. The protagonist had the chance to start from scratch by surviving in season 1.
“When you look at Gi-hun, his attempts to stop the game. It's the idea to bring in mercenaries and install a tracking device but it fails. Then, he wants to persuade the participants to leave but also encounters refusal. His final attempt is to unite people to lead a rebellion. But these failures led him to a crisis which caused him to lose his best friend” specifies Hwang Dong-hyuk.
