No jury, no cameras filming the disappointment of the losers, no controversy over the absence of popular works on the prize list. The “Bravos d’or” ceremony, a new feature launched on France 2 this Wednesday evening by Nagui and Leïla Kaddour-Boudadi, in partnership with Le Parisien – Today in France, honored the artists and, more broadly, the personalities who been acclaimed by the public in 2024. “Each time, we referred to institutions which say precisely who has had the most success,” said the presenter.
Cinema section, no surprise, then. It was the entire team of “Un p’tit truc en plus”, by the comedian Artus, who came to the stage of the Marigny theater (8th arrondissement of Paris) to collect the trophy – a “heavy” golden sculpture in the shape of hands clapping. This sunny comedy giving another vision of difference (autism, Down syndrome, etc.) attracted more than 10 million spectators in theaters and finished in first place at the 2024 box office.
“It’s our first prize,” greeted the neo-director among his actors for whom the film changed a lot of things. We thus learn that one of them, Gad, has since been employed as a handler… at the Élysée.
The acclaimed Enfoirés
As he told readers of Le Parisien, Artus confirmed that there would be no sequel, “but other projects”. “I don’t want to spoil what happened with this one. » “Thank you very much, Maguy,” said one of the actors, Ludovic, towards an amused Nagui and touched by the spontaneity of these actors all having a little something extra.
The best-selling (physical) record in 2024? Les Enfoirés, represented at the “Bravos d’or” by Patrick Bruel and Ycare, who came to perform “Until the last” as a duo. The troupe also won the award for most watched TV entertainment. And the most listened to song on digital? “Little Genie” by Jungeli, “who couldn’t come this evening,” said the host.
On the radio side, Daniel Riolo and Gilbert Brisbois were rewarded for “L’After Foot” on RMC (France’s leading podcast). Figures from Médiamétrie being taken as proof, France Inter – the station on which the two hosts of the evening collaborate – gleaned the “Bravo” for the most listened to radio station with more than 7 million listeners per day.
As for fiction on the platforms, still “according to Médiamétrie” clarified Nagui, the reward goes to “Sous la Seine”. Despite mixed reviews, Netflix’s Parisian shark film, directed by Xavier Gens, starring Bérénice Béjo, is the first French feature film on the US streaming site to have exceeded 100 million views worldwide. “I found my American agent thanks to this film,” comedian Nassim Lyes revealed on the air.
The Olympics still present
It is impossible, in this Olympic year, to ignore the Paris Olympics. In particular at the helm of the opening ceremony, Thierry Reboul and Thomas Jolly gleaned, in the absence of a medal, the “Bravo d’or” for the event which brought together the most viewers.
A decidedly flamboyant year 2024 for Thomas Jolly, also crowned for directing the new adaptation of the musical “Starmania”, which brought together more than 1.2 million spectators in two years. A box put on hold by production. “I would like it not to stop, but unfortunately, it’s not me who decides,” lamented Thomas Jolly, putting a layer on what looks like the start of a controversy.
The evening, thought of as a great retrospective of the year, without politics, “only intelligence and happiness”, had warned Nagui, then crowned the writer Joël Dicker with the sale of more than 400,000 copies of his novel “A Wild Animal”.
As in the days of the “Golden 7”, the former TV Césars, France 2 has also proven that it is capable of awarding prizes to the competition. In the TV fiction category of the year, it is “HPI” and its 10 million fans on TF 1 which emerges from the audiences.
A prize awarded in duplex to Audrey Fleurot, filming the last season of the adventures of her heroine with high intellectual potential. Struggling to lift the statuette, the actress mischievously offered to “melt it down and share it with the whole team”.
On the live show side, “Le Cercle des poetes gone” got its hands on a “Bravo d’or” after its two Molières. The comedian who received the most people in 2024: Alban Ivanov, back in great shape after a burnout.
Inoxtag, Shaka Ponk and Ofenbach crowned
The group that brought together the most audiences in concert? The rockers of Shaka Ponk, who decided to stop touring for ecological reasons. “It’s heavy,” greeted singer Frah while collecting the prize. No ceremony of this type without rants: the artist took the opportunity to call for “a resistance movement in the face of industrial, media and political excesses which are destroying the environment, society, hospitals…”
“Bravo d’or” from the Web program awarded to YouTuber Inoxtag for his phenomenon documentary “Kaisen” recounting his ascent of Everest. Still on digital, it is “Transfert”, telling “the extraordinary stories of ordinary people”, which gleans the price of the original podcast (that is to say not being broadcast in parallel on a radio).
Coming with their… lookalikes, the two old friends of Ofenbach, the most listened to French group in the world, offer the public a medley before raising their “Bravo” with international accents. It’s time for the end credits but… a statuette is missing. It is given just after the ceremony thanks to a sticker recorded afterwards.
The only category open to public voting, the personality of the year could have rewarded an Olympic champion, we said. But swimmer Léon Marchand finished – for once – at the foot of the podium (4th). Tony Estanguet, the playmaker of the Olympic organization, must be satisfied with bronze. And it is finally the singer Pierre Garnier who imposes himself at the very end of the evening.
