The maternity ward recorded its first birth of the year, a little boy. The day before, a girl had completed the 2024 birth album.

The maternity ward of the University Hospitals of Geneva (HUG) welcomed the first baby of 2025 at 1:57 a.m. this Wednesday. His parents chose to call him Matéo.

The day before, little Anna was the last birth of the year 2024.

Last year, 4,103 births were recorded at the HUG maternity ward, the largest in Switzerland. In 2023, 3922 newborns were born there.
