A motorist drove into a crowd on New Year's Eve in New Orleans, Louisiana (United States). Several victims died, according to local media. There are at least ten dead and thirty injured, authorities announced.
The events took place around 3:15 a.m. (local time), in the French Quarter which is very touristy, at Bourbon Street. A shootout then broke out between the driver of the vehicle, believed to be a pick-up, and the police, according to the same sources. It is not known whether the driver was arrested or neutralized by law enforcement. The authorities will hold a press conference in the coming hours.
