LaLiga announced on Tuesday that FC Barcelona “has not presented an alternative to register a player from January 2”.
In a statement regarding FC Barcelona’s salary cap, LaLiga said that “to date, December 31, FC Barcelona has not provided any alternative which, in compliance with LALIGA’s economic control regulations, would allow them to register a player after January 2”.
As a result, neither Dani Olmo nor Pau Víctor could be registered.
Before this LaLiga announcement, made shortly after 9:00 p.m., FC Barcelona had informed that it had requested a new license from the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for players Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, who had to be registered in LaLiga before January 1st.
Additionally, the Barcelona entity denied claims that it “requested or received a moratorium from any other organization for the registration it seeks.”

Dani Olmo could become a free agent after Barca fail to register him, European giants covet his signature
FC Barcelona aims to register Olmo and Víctor by exploiting the rental of some of the new VIP boxes at the Spotify Camp Nou, which could generate around 100 million euros.
LaLiga was waiting for the Barcelona entity to complete all the required documentation regarding the new contracts and associated payment guarantees.
The agreement, sealed by club president Joan Laporta in Dubai last week and initiated after an unsuccessful legal attempt to register the two players, should also allow FC Barcelona to return to the rule of financial ‘fair play’ 1: 1.
This means that Barça, in addition to securing the continuity of Olmo and Víctor in the first team, could operate at full capacity in the next transfer market.
