La Liga Responds to Dani Olmo’s Registration Case with Barcelona

La Liga announced Tuesday in a statement regarding FC Barcelona’s salary cap that “as of today, December 31, FC Barcelona has not presented an alternative that, in compliance with economic control regulations of LALIGA, would allow them to register players from January 2.”

As a result, neither Dani Olmo nor Víctor could be registered.

Before this statement from La Liga, published after 9:00 p.m. (Spanish time), FC Barcelona had informed that it had requested a new license from the Royal Spanish Federation (RFEF) for players Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, who were to be registered in La Liga before January 1.

Furthermore, the Catalan club denied having “requested or received a moratorium from another body for the registration it is seeking.”

Barcelona aim to register Olmo and Víctor through the rental of part of the new VIP boxes at Spotify Camp Nou, for which they hope to earn around 100 million euros.

La Liga is still waiting for the club to complete all the documentation it has requested regarding the new contracts and their payment guarantees.

This operation, finalized by club president Joan Laporta in Dubai last week and activated after an unsuccessful attempt to use legal means to register the two players, should also allow Barcelona to return to the 1:1 rule of ‘ financial fair play.

This means that Barça, in addition to ensuring the continuity of Olmo and Víctor in the first team, could operate at full capacity in the next transfer market.
