FC Barcelona seeks new license to register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor

FC Barcelona is racing against time to ensure that the two players do not become free agents from this Wednesday.

FC Barcelona confirmed on Tuesday that they have requested a new registration license from the Royal Spanish Federation (RFEF) for midfielder Dani Olmo and Víctor, which they must register before midnight in order to allow them to participate in the rest of the season. The club denied having requested a “moratorium” to buy more time.

“FC Barcelona informs that it has requested a new license from the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for players Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor. Furthermore, the club wishes to clarify that it has neither requested nor received any moratorium from another organization regarding the requested registration,” the Blaugrana club said in an official statement.

The club, chaired by Joan Laporta, continues its efforts to register both players after Barcelona’s Court of First Instance 47 denied it an injunction to do so, as FC Barcelona cannot register either players due to financial issues related to financial fair play.

Following this latest legal setback, the Catalan club must find a new way to register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, in particular Olmo, whose contract contains a clause that would allow him to end his link with the Blaugrana entity from from January 1, 2025, making him a free agent and eligible to sign with another club.

The Blaugrana organization remains confident in the possibility of using another “financial lever”, similar to the sale of VIP boxes at the future Spotify Camp Nou, to register the player, with a deadline set for 11:59 p.m. this December 31.
