The Blaugrana club released a statement denying having requested a moratorium on Olmo’s registration.
FC Barcelona has published an official statement on its website requesting a new license from the Spanish Football Federation for Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, following difficulties encountered in registering them due to the club’s non-compliance with the rules of the financial fair play. Although the club completed the signing of Dani Olmo last summer for around 55 million euros, they did not respect the established salary cap and also failed to obtain the interim measure they requested from the courts after yesterday’s judgment.
The club has explored various strategies to generate revenue and meet financial regulations. One of the proposals includes the sale of VIP boxes at the future Spotify Camp Nou to investors from the Middle East, aiming to raise between 100 and 120 million euros over the next 20 years. This measure would allow Barcelona to comply with LaLiga rules and ensure the registration of Olmo and Pau Víctor. However, this does not seem to be a viable solution in the short term, as there are only a few hours left until January 1, when the Barca player will become a free agent. Therefore, they requested a new license for both players from the football federation. However, according to information from SER, LaLiga has no updates regarding Dani Olmo’s file, does not have any new documentation and therefore has not approved Olmo’s registration as an FC Barcelona player.

La Liga Claims Barça ‘Did Not Present Alternative’ for Dani Olmo Registration
However, Barcelona’s efforts have encountered legal obstacles. Barcelona’s 47th Commercial Court rejected the club’s requests to register Dani Olmo, arguing the lack of jurisdiction of LaLiga’s executive committee and rejecting the suspension of Article 77 of LaLiga’s budget preparation guidelines. This legal ruling left the club with a very limited time frame to find solutions before Olmo becomes a free agent from January 1.
In light of this critical situation, FC Barcelona continues to work against time to comply with financial regulations and guarantee the retention of both players in the team. Management remains calm and is confident of completing the necessary operations on time, exploring alternatives such as securing guarantees from management or generating additional revenue to meet LaLiga’s demands.
