Currently, the Nintendo Switch 2 is on almost everyone’s lips. It must be said that the Big N console does not provide a lot of news about it. We have to make do with rumors and leaks which are sometimes difficult to verify. Recently, a new leak reports thata successful title released on the original console could benefit from an update to allow fans to play it on the Kyoto firm’s next console.
Fans are impatiently waiting to discover the Nintendo Switch 2
After eight years of good and loyal service, the Nintendo Switch is experiencing its final hours. The console has been a success, selling more than 146 million copies since its release in 2017. It has established itself as the third best-selling console in history. The pressure is strong for its little sister, the date of which we still do not know when it will be marketed. According to sales estimates, even before its release, experts say that in its first year, the Switch 2 could sell between 15 and 17 million units. Even better than the original console.
A cult Switch game updated for the Switch 2?
Besides the question of when players will be able to get their hands on the Switch 2 (the presentation of which must take place during the first quarter of 2025), fans wonder what the line-up for Big N’s new console will be.
If Shuntaro Furukawa has confirmed that the Switch 2 will be backwards compatiblewe do not yet know the technical specificities of the machine but it should offer more power and larger dimensions than its big sister. Other rumors are also circulating regarding the possibility that old games can benefit from updates to be playable on the Nintendo Switch 2. EtcThis is the case of this successful game released at the launch of the first Switch: The Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild.
This title won over critics and players upon its release and contributed to the success of the console. According to insider Samus Hunter (who announced the arrival of Xenoblade Chronicles X on the Switch a day before Nintendo’s official announcement), an update of Breath of the Wild would be under development. He explains that Nintendo would have “built a system to allow this type of next gen patches” which implies that other Switch games could well land on the new console.
For now, no confirmation from the Japanese company. But a special tech demo was shown to developers behind closed doors at Gamescom 2023 and Breath of the Wild would have been used to show off the Switch 2’s hardware and graphics capabilities.
And you, would you like to see The Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild land on the Switch 2?
