Several hundred thousand subscribers without television and without telephone. A pylon of the TDF (Télédiffusion de France) network was the target of a fire during the night from Sunday to Monday in the town of Cenves in the Rhône. The damage is “heavy” and impacts “800,000 people”, reports TDF, interviewed by France 3 Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.
The terrestrial and mobile network was disrupted in the areas of Mâcon (Saône-et-Loire), Bourg-en-Bresse (Ain), part of Villefranche-sur-Saône (Rhône) and part of Chalon- sur-Saône (Saône-et-Loire). The channels of the France Télévisions group are inaccessible, as well as the channels of the Canal + LCI and Paris Première group. Radio broadcasting is not impacted.
On the telephony side, all operators are concerned: Bouygues, SFR, Free and Orange. Internet is not impacted for fiber users, specifies TDF. But 3G, 4G and 5G can suffer from disruptions.
TDF hopes for an “almost 100% recovery within 24 to 48 hours”, reports France 3. According to Patrice Bargas, the South-East regional director, “the voluntary nature of the fire is in no doubt”.
