In Morocco, the consumption of electrical energy decreased by 4.2% at the end of the first ten months of 2024, after an increase of 3.3% at the end of October 2023, according to the Directorate of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF ), under the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

This development covers a decline in energy sales of “very high, high and medium voltage, excluding distributors” by 7.9%, those intended for households by 3.2% and those intended for distributors by 1.9%, after respective increases of 4.1%, 3.5% and 1.9% a year earlier , specifies the DEPF in its recent economic report, cited by the MAP agency.

Concerning the production of electrical energy, at the national level, it improved by 2.2% at the end of last October, after an increase of 1.7% a year earlier, following the strengthening of energy production renewables relating to Law 13-09 (+31.7%), while private electricity production and that of the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) have almost stagnated.

In a context of consolidation of net energy (+3.6% at the end of October 2024), the imported volume of electrical energy increased by 32.2%, after an increase of 21.2% a year ago. year ago.

Regarding the volume exported, it fell by 32.8%, after a decline of 15.6% last year.
