Here’s why - refuses to broadcast the ad with Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge

The name of Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge has been on the lips and fingertips of all Quebecers since last Friday when a Meubles RD advertisement featuring him appeared on the web.

However, let’s go back a little to the events for those who are not aware. This Thursday, December 26, Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge published a video on his Instagram account even though he had not made a publication for months. In the video in question, we see him on a film set, however we do not know which set it was at that time.

In the video he shared on Insta, we can hear Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge say: “I like coming on set, it’s the first time I’ve come back, in a very long time, to a film set. » before continuing that “I’m super excited. Very, very, very happy” while ending by mentioning that: “It makes me… all the time… I don’t know, feverish inside.”

In case you missed it, we’ve got the post for you below:

Then, there was a twist this Friday, December 27 when we learned that the filming set was for an advertisement for Meubles RD.

Indeed, while we can see Jérémy Demay, the headliner of Meubles RD for several years, at the start of the advertisement. This one mentions:

“As you know, Meubles RD, they really cut corners to offer you the best prices. So the only artist I could invite for the end of the year was someone who was really, really, not expensive. Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge, good evening! »

Then, Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge appears, mentioning: “beautiful intro, beautiful intro”.

Here's why - refuses to broadcast the ad with Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge

In case you haven’t seen the ad, here it is below:

We subsequently learned via La Presse that the advertisement in question was originally filmed with the aim of being broadcast during Bye Bye 2024, however this will not be the case. Indeed, according to information from La Presse, - refuses to broadcast the ad because it risks placing the state-owned company “at the center of a controversy or public debate.”

Furthermore, according to the Journal de Montréaleverything was confirmed by email by Guylaine O’Farrell, first director, internal and external strategy at CBC/- who mentioned that “We did not accept the advertising concept of Meubles RD including the participation of Guillaume Lemay -Thivierge for broadcast during Bye Bye.

While she was questioned by the JDM, Guylaine O’Farrell did not wish to elaborate on the precise details concerning the refusal of the Meubles RD ad involving Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge, mentioning that Meubles RD will still have another ad during the famous show, another ad without Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge.

It is therefore logical to mention that it is the presence of Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge which is disturbing since another Meubles RD ad will be broadcast.

To be continued!
