The 31-year-old British singer was found dead on October 16, after falling from the balcony of his hotel room in Buenos Aires. According to investigators, Liam Payne had consumed alcohol, cocaine and antidepressants. Five people have just been arrested in Argentina.
Among the people accused, three are being prosecuted for manslaughter without preventive detention: a companion of the victim who came to Buenos Aires to regularize his American visa, the hotel manager and the head of reception. The prosecution indicates that these charges carry penalties ranging from one to five years in prison.
Two other defendants, a hotel employee and a waiter met by Liam Payne, are charged with “supply of narcotics” and placed in preventive detention. This offense is punishable by four to fifteen years in prison.

In November, the prosecution had already mentioned accusations linked to the sale of drugs and the abandonment of a vulnerable person. This Monday's decision confirms that the five suspects will be tried.
