The image is impressive. During the night of Saturday December 28 to Sunday December 29, at least one explosion blew out a house in Quessy, associated with the town of Tergnier, in Aisne. It caused a major fire.

The events took place between midnight and one in the morning. Called by the firefighters, the city's mayor, Michel Carreau, went to the scene. When he arrived, “everything was on fire“, he testifies. He indicates “splashes of glass and other” who found themselves among the nearby residents.

The 54 firefighters, who came from several barracks in neighboring communities, intervened until midday to contain the fire and thus prevent it from spreading to other homes. “Significant resources“, says the elected official.

Following the explosion, a witness saw a hooded man flee and helped a second man pulled out from the rubble. The latter, very seriously injured, was transported to Amiens University Hospital. One of the residents says he saw another person.go towards the forbidden direction“.

We have issued an order to prohibit traffic on this street, quite simply because there is a danger“at the level of the house, indicates the Mayor. Only one wall of the damaged house was standing. A point must be made in the coming hours to decide on the “merits” of the decree.

They also checked the stability of the building and the affected neighboring house. In this context, the residents of the latter, a family of four, were unable to return to their homes. “Devastated“, the neighbor said: “We don't know what we're doing tonight, we don't know what we're doing tomorrow“. The mayor assures that “all arrangements will be made” if they were to be rehoused.

The owners of the affected home had been absent for four months. The mayor reported “of the neighborhood problems that remain for some time” between the owners and the inhabitants of a caravan parked on land at the rear.

Contacted, the public prosecutor of Laon Guillaume Donnnadieu indicated that a “flagrant investigation into the charge of willful destruction by dangerous means” was opened and carried out by the Tergnier police station.
