A trailer who left for the mountains in the Ariège Pyrenees was discovered dead, Saturday December 28, 2024, around 6 p.m., in the Roc de Sédour sector, in Arignac, near Tarascon-sur-Ariège.
The victim, originally from the Bordeaux region (Gironde), aged 40, was found after several hours of searching and the mobilization of significant resources, particularly air resources.
Around 2 p.m., the firefighters alerted the gendarmes of the Foix group, after a report from witnesses who had heard calls for help. Initial research was carried out in the town of Arignac, on a rocky part which dominates the Sédour plain. Without success.
But around 3 p.m., the gendarmes were contacted by friends of the victim, with whom she was staying in Ariège. They told the soldiers that the sportsman, a trail enthusiast, had left around 9 a.m. from Arignac on this rocky part. “In the last SMS that the trailer sent them, he indicated that he would be back around 3 p.m. but at that time no news,” told France 3 Occitanie, the duty officer of the Foix group.
Aerial resources are then engaged with the PGHM helicopter from Savignac-les-Ormeaux, with the support of the Pujols and Toulouse air brigades, equipped with thermal cameras. The victim’s body was discovered around 6 p.m. in a steep area. Rescuers recovered him after being airlifted. An investigation is opened under the authority of the public prosecutor of Foix to determine the circumstances of the tragedy, whether it is a case of discomfort, a landslide, or a fall. An examination of the body by a forensic doctor must be carried out in the coming days.
