Chris Kavanagh was right to award Tottenham a penalty against Wolves after Brennan Johson was brought down in the penalty area, according to Mike Dean.

The Welshman went down in the box under a challenge from Andre, leaving the referee with no choice but to award a penalty and giving Spurs a chance to take the lead on Sunday (December 29).

Son Heung-min saw his subsequent penalty saved by Jose Sa before Johnson scored moments before the half-time whistle, but Kavanagh was still backed for his decision to point the finger.

S’exprimant en direct via Sky Sports News [29 December, 3:44pm]Dean said: “That’s good of the striker. He moves slightly and André hits the back of his leg. It's a clear penalty, and once given on the field, it wasn't going to be overturned.

Son Heung-min continues to be in terrible form at Tottenham against Wolves

Son has had the perfect opportunity to get his season back on track as, even with goals against Manchester United and Chelsea this month, he looks a shadow of his former self.

Of course, Ange Postecoglou's entire side have been struggling in recent weeks, losing games they certainly shouldn't have and picking up unexpected victories elsewhere, but their form is worrying.

The South Korea international still has five goals and six assists to his name in the Premier League this season, but it certainly feels like Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski are carrying the attack forward.

Luckily for Son, the aforementioned duo teamed up again to help take the lead, putting his missed penalty behind them and taking the lead until halftime.

Supporters and his manager will be hoping that the 32-year-old can get back to his old self and start enjoying his football on the pitch again.

In other Tottenham news, Ange Postecoglou is surely shooting himself in the foot with yet another decision made regarding an academy star.
