ALPINE SKI WORLD CUP 2024-2025 – Fredrik Moeller won the last victory of the year 2024 in the Super-G in Bormio. The Norwegian was able to tame the Italian track to achieve his very first career success, ahead of Vincent Kriechmayr and the surprising Alexis Monney. The French Nils Allègre and Florian Loriot finished in the Top 10.
Following Alexis Monney’s success on the downhill, it was time to move on to the second highlight of the Italian weekend in Bormio. After the victories of Marco Odermatt at Beaver Creek and Mattia Casse at Val Gardena, the Italian track offered the third Super-G of the season. Super-G in which was missing Cyprien Sarrazinhe who fell heavily in training at the end of the week. But also Alexis Pinturaultwho suffers from a virus affecting the entire French team.
Fredrik Moeller stands out, Marco Odermatt ejected from the podium
On a tricky track, the tone will be set immediately. First to set off, Gino Caviezel impales himself in a door before suffering a heavy fall. Badly hit in the right leg, the Swiss was then evacuated by helicopter after being taken care of for around twenty minutes. Daniel Hemetsberger has the difficult task of taking over at the start. The Austrian will show great mastery to reach the line under 1:30. But his commitment was not sufficient, and allowed Fredrik Moeller to take the lead with a much more interesting mark (1:29’22). The young Norwegian was surgical, while achieving a breathtaking finish.
His time will become thicker as the minutes go by. Vincent Kriechmayr will in particular break his teeth there for two tenths, just like Stefan Rogentin (+0’42), before Marco Odermatt don’t leave, bib 10 on the back. Double defending champion of the Super-G in Bormio, the Swiss made an extremely complicated start, and was pushed around in certain curves. These difficulties will ultimately be reflected in the clock since he is immediately ejected from the podium. Behind, no one will manage to even approach Moeller, except the astonishing Alexis Monney.
Moeller and Money, the new wave
Author of a fantastic finale, the winner of the downhill once again surprises everyone by ejecting his compatriot Rogentin from the podium! He signs a second successive podium, and completes the box, just behind Vincent Kriechmayr. Switzerland achieves a real group shot since Stefan Rogentin (4e), Marco Odermatt (5e) one Franjo Von Allmen (6th). Already performing well in the first two Super-Gs of the season (twice 4th), Fredrik Moeller took another step forward in its dazzling progress to win the first victory of his careerat 24! A magnificent performance for a boy who has never been on a World Cup podium before, and only has around ten starts to his name.
Nils Allegre is there, Florian Loriot surpasses himself
On the French side, Nils Allegre represented the best French chance, and this was reflected in the rankings. Very aggressive, it will show cleanliness, despite a more delicate finish. With a time under 1:30 (1:29’96), he finally won a nice 8e placewhich allows him to sign a seventh consecutive Top 10 in the World Cup. But he is not the only one to have shone. Three weeks after signing his best result in the Beaver Creek Super-G (13th), Florian Loriot improved his mark by positioning himself just behind his compatriot, in 9e position ! Further back, Blaise Giezendanner (17th) et Adrien Théaux (26e) finish in the points. Which is not the case for Nils Alphand (36e), Leo Ducros (40th) and Matthieu Bailet (abandon).
