Between rising dangers, political uncertainties and continued wars, the year 2024 will have been, like the previous ones, full of upheavals. And since we only reap what we sow, we can bet that it will be the same for the months to come.
But in the meantime, beyond the noise of the world, Zone Militaire wishes you a beautiful and happy new year 2025. May it bring you great and small joys. And, above all, that it is better than the previous one!
And to set the tone for this year which is beginning, here is a text written by Georges Bernanos in August 1941, in a time much more dramatic than ours. No doubt it is still relevant today.
“We must write for a small number of free men. There aren’t many free men. To be a free man, it is by no means enough to have the habits and taste for freedom, as the flatterers of democracy would have us believe. When we cherish our freedoms for the advantages, benefits, and comforts we derive from them, we are not truly free men. Free men were, then as today, those who had previously won these freedoms for us, at the price of their sweat and blood. Freedom is not only a good that we enjoy, a capital whose interest we receive, but a living reality that we maintain from our substance and which, animated by a spiritual principle whose source is our soul, risks at any moment like us, with us, his salvation or his damnation.”
