In freezing cold, the young guard of the France team was able to warm up the atmosphere this Sunday morning near Besançon. After Soren Bruyère Joumard, winner of the World Cup for boys, the tricolors immediately achieved the hat-trick for Junior girls.. “It’s so good to do the hat-trick, especially since the three of us get along very well. We jumped into each other's arms upon arrival. It’s super beautiful”appreciated by DirectVelo the winner, Lise Revol. “Honestly, it’s incredible. If someone had told me that before the race, I would never have believed it,” recognizes the 2nd, Jeanne Duterne. “It’s great. It was a wonderful race”adds Lison Desprez who also climbs onto the podium (see ranking).
“I DIDN’T THINK I COULD WIN”
With the presence of Canadian Rafaelle Carrier, winner of both rounds last weekend, it was difficult to imagine such a result before the race. “Today my goal was to make a podium, I didn't think I could win”recognizes Lise Revol. On the box for the three previous rounds, Lison Desprez was until then the only French rider to be on a podium in the World Cup this season. But the French women quickly took the race in the right direction. “I didn't get a good start because I didn't manage to stall but I managed to quickly get back to the front. We quickly made progress with the girls”reports Lison Desprez. They quickly counted 30 seconds on the first pursuers.
After mid-race, Lise Revol and Jeanne Duterne, usual teammates at AS Bike Racing, left their compatriot behind. “I was ten seconds away but I couldn't come back”. And in the penultimate lap, Lise Revol took advantage of an error by Jeanne Duterne passing the boards to set off alone towards victory. “I then tried to keep my 2nd place, I didn’t want to fall and lose the podium”says the one who had difficulty sleeping the previous night due to a sore throat.
“IT MOTIVATES US EVEN MORE”
The three French women showed a big smile on arrival. “I gave up but I’m still happy. It's my fourth podium in four rounds, I didn't expect that at the start of the season. It’s really nice”appreciates Lison Desprez, licensed at VC Evron Coëtmieux. “I didn't think I could finish 2nd in a World Cup, especially at home. I train here all winter”recalls Jeanne Duterne who is a member of the Pôle France de Besançon. Lise Revol dreamed of winning a World Cup round during her first season in Juniors. “I don’t really know what to say, I don’t realize yet, she smiled. It’s so good, I’m super happy. It is an objective which has been achieved”.
Before the last two rounds of the World Cup, which will take place in Benidorm and Hoogerheide, François Trarieux's protégés are in high spirits. “It motivates us even more for the next rounds, it’s great, it gives us confidence. We know that we can do better than what we did in the first rounds”appreciates Jeanne Duterne. A very good thing a little over a month before the World Cup in Liévin, also at home. And this Sunday, the French showed that they knew how to respond at home.
