The Swiss scored a superb group shot on Sunday in the super-G in Bormio, even if victory eluded them. Downhill hero Alexis Monney placed 3rd, Stefan Rogentin 4th, Marco Odermatt 5th and Franjo von Allmen 6th, in a race won by Norwegian Fredrik Möller.

Improbable winner of Saturday’s downhill on the Stelvio, Alexis Monney resoundingly confirmed this first World Cup success. Like the day before, the 24-year-old from Friborg finished very strongly only to fail 0”24 behind Fredrik Möller, while his handicap was 0”57 after 22 seconds of racing.

Never ranked better than 8th in the World Cup before this crazy weekend, the 2020 junior downhill world champion came to knock Stefan Rogentin off the podium by 18 hundredths. He was ahead of Marco Odermatt by 21 hundredths, with Franjo von Allmen conceding four tenths to Monney.

Fifth in a descent in which he saw his airbag open, Marco Odermatt therefore failed for a second time in a row outside the top 3. The Nidwalden was pouting at the finish after a line error made at the Entering a crossing had caused him to lose a lot of time.

Heavy fall for Caviezel

Fourth in the first two super-Gs of the season, at Beaver Creek then at Val Gardena, Fredrik Möller reached an additional milestone by picking up his first World Cup success at the age of 24. The Norwegian’s progress is remarkable: before this 2024/25 financial year, he had 21st place as his best result!

This super-G also started in the worst way for the representatives of Swiss-Ski. Wearer of bib 1, Gino Caviezel fell heavily after going through a gate at full speed after some 45 seconds of racing. Visibly injured in one leg, Grison was evacuated by helicopter.
