It was shortly after midnight that the residents of a house located in the hamlet of Bordes, in Crozon-sur-Vauvre, sounded the alert on Sunday December 29, 2024. A fire broke out in the attic of the house. “The firefighters intervened quickly and quickly called for reinforcements”explains the mayor of the town, Bernard Mitaty who also visited the site.
Four people, a couple and their two children were slightly poisoned by smoke from the fire. They were treated on site by firefighters but their state of health did not require hospitalization.
The family relocated by the municipality
Firefighters from the centers of Aigurande, Châteauroux, La Châtre, Neuvy-Saint-Sépulchre and the general staff intervened. “The attic was completely ablaze”specifies the departmental fire and rescue service (SDIS). However, only part of the roof was affected before their intervention. Firefighters were able to save part of the house. “Even if there was water, obviously, part of the upstairs and the ground floor could have been saved”explains the mayor.
The affected family was taken care of by the elected official to be rehoused. “We opened a local lodge for them. » The police were also on site.
An investigation is underway to determine the origin of the fire. One of the possibilities considered would be the triggering of combustion at the level of the wood stove pipe, in the attic, although this cannot yet be confirmed.
