Jon Moxley against the world
AEW World Champion and leader of the Death Riders, Jon Moxley, hasn’t just made friends in recent weeks and months. After dethroning Bryan Danielson on October 12 at WrestleDream, he imposed a reign marked by brutality and chaos, turning a large part of the AEW roster against him and his clan.
Saturday night at the Worlds End ppv, he will put his title on the line against three opponents in a Fatal 4-Way Match : Orange Cassidy, who lost to Mox last month at Full Gear, “Hangman” Page, a former AEW World Champion himself, and Jay White, recently a two-time winner over Adam Page on pay-per-view view and in search of a first world title in All Elite Wrestling. However, the three challengers did not try to hide it: they seem ready to ally firstly to remove Jon Moxley from the match and then fight among themselves.
So, what will happen in such a fight, the stipulation of which means that there is no possible disqualification and that the Death Riders could possibly intervene?
Tijuana Street Fight for Women’s World Title
The AEW Women’s World Championship will be defended in a Tijuana Street Fight Match. Indeed, no disqualification either when the champion Mariah May will defend it against a former holder of the belt, Thunder Rosa.
The Glamour successfully defended her title last Wednesday, December 11 at Dynamite: Winter Is Coming against Mina Shirakawa, just before seeing Toni Storm make her return. This is his last title defense to date.
Moné vs. Statlander II
AEW Worlds End 2024 will be the opportunity for Kris Statlander to take his revenge against Mercedes Moné following Full Gear. Indeed, the two wrestlers faced each other during the pay-per-view which took place on November 23 for the TBS championship; the match ended in a victory for Moné after a difficult fight. The belt will be on the line again on December 28 at Worlds End, as Mercedes Moné surpassed 200 days of reign this month.
Powerhouse Hobbs wants to spoil the Don Callis Family’s plans
For his part, Konosuke Takeshita will put the AEW International Championship on the line against Powerhouse Hobbs. The latter made his return during the November 6 episode of Dynamite; while he joined the Don Callis Family in October 2023, he was injured when he tore a tendon during a match against Jon Moxley at AEW Dynamite last April. The evening of his return, we learned that his contract with the Don Callis Family had expired and had not been renewed.
Powerhouse Hobbs will therefore intend to take revenge by facing Konosuke Takeshita, one of Don Callis’ protégés, at Worlds End.
Adam Cole vs. MJF: one year later
A year ago, at AEW Worlds End 2023, Adam Cole betrayed MJF and caused him to lose the AEW World Championship to Samoa Joe. While both wrestlers have been injured over the past 365 days, they have yet to have the opportunity to settle their differences in the ring since. However, what better date than the first anniversary of this betrayal to do so?
Adam Cole and MJF will indeed face each other for the Dynamite Diamond Ring next Saturday night. Adam Cole had failed to get a match against the Devil to Full Gear and had to wait another month.
Continental Classic
Finally, the semi-finals and final of the Continental Classic tournament will take place at Worlds End 2024.
Semi-final posters:
- Kazuchika Okada vs. Ricochet
- Kyle Fletcher vs. Will Ospreay
Current reigning Continental champion, Kazuchika Okada will have everything to lose in this affair, as he faces Ricochet in the semi-final.
Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher will face each other in the second semi-final, in what will be a rematch from Full Gear, while Kyle Fletcher surprised the wrestling world by managing to beat his mentor.
