In the United States, a video shocks America. An African-American inmate is beaten to death by prison officers. The scene took place in a prison near New York three weeks ago. The images of the tragedy were broadcast by the authorities and caused great emotion in the country.
Handcuffed and firmly restrained, an African-American inmate is first transported to an infirmary bed. A prison guard then shoves a cloth into his mouth. The detainee is then beaten by several officers numerous times. Although he no longer has the strength to struggle, he continues to receive blows. The images were filmed on December 9 in a New York prison by cameras worn by prison officers.
With his face bleeding, the detainee is then grabbed by the collar and violently slammed against a window. He ended up dying of asphyxiation due to neck compression a little later as revealed by an autopsy.
Robert Brooks, 43, was serving a 12-year sentence for violence. The videos seized by the courts do not make it possible to understand whether an incident had taken place before the scenes of violence. All 14 prison employees involved in the affair were fired.
