The government of Nigeria has come out of its reserve to respond to the allegations of the military leader and president of Niger, General Abdourahamane Tiani.
Information Minister Mohammed Idris addressed the claims in a press release, describing the accusations as a fabrication.
In a widely circulated video, General Tiani alleged that Nigeria collaborated with France to destabilize Niger.
However, the Nigerian government has dismissed these claims as completely unfounded.
“Nigeria has never collaborated with France or any other country to support terrorism or destabilize Niger, particularly following the recent political upheavals”said Idris.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in his capacity as President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), has continued to emphasize dialogue; the Nigerian government remains committed to promoting peace and mutual respect between the two nations.
The Nigerian Armed Forces, in collaboration with regional and international partners, are actively working to combat terrorism and ensure regional stability.
It is illogical, says the government, to accuse Nigeria of plotting against its neighbor while investing heavily in anti-terrorism operations.
Claims that Nigeria aided terrorist groups or ceded part of its territory for nefarious activities in Niger were also rejected.
“Nigeria has always acted as a stabilizing force in the region”said Idris.
Furthermore, Nigeria has strongly denied allegations of sabotage of Niger’s gas pipelines and agriculture, citing its significant investments in projects such as the Trans-Saharan gas pipeline and the Kano-Maradi railway as proof of its commitment to growth. economy of Niger.
