La Libye is the African leader – and 2nd in the world – in terms gasoline prices the lowest, at 0,031 dollars per litere, Tunisia is in 8th position.
According to our colleagues from Africa News, with this price, Libya confirms its status as a country where energy is particularly affordable, while Tunisia is in 8th place. Knowing that no other oil producing country in Africa has offered a price equal to or higher than the world average rate, which stands at $1.24 per liter. “This notable difference in gasoline prices reflects the economic and political dynamics specific to each state.”
Price differences are mainly explained by the tax structure applied in each country. “Indeed, taxes on petroleum products vary considerably from one nation to another. In general, richer countries have higher prices, while poorer nations or large oil exporters, such as Libya, tend to charge lower prices,” Africa News points out.
