Leuven won 2-0 against Beerschot. The Universities are doing well in the rankings.
Last weekend, OHL conceded its first defeat in six Pro League games. Beyond the particularly frustrating outcome on the Cercle de Bruges pitch (a penalty whistled…after the initial final whistle), the men of Chris Coleman especially wanted to distance themselves from the red zone.
The opportunity seemed perfect against a Beerschot team that was regaining form but which had still only brought home one point in ten away games this season.
The first half, however, was disappointing with sterile domination but especially the exit due to injury of Ezechiel Banzuzi, midfield defender, after 20 minutes.
Chris Coleman relieved
The Louvanists recovered in the second act, with more intense and more concrete pressure around the Antwerp rectangle. However, the score was 0-0 at the start of the last quarter of an hour, the moment chosen by Ikwuemesi to make the difference and open the scoring (76th, 1-0).
Executioner of Charleroi a few weeks ago, the Nigerian striker scored twice ten minutes later to ensure his team’s victory (2-0). OHL is no longer the first team outside the red zone, they overtake Westrerlo and Dender, while taking a five-point lead in the dangerous zone, tied with Standard. THE Beerschot is, however, six points behind Cercle de Bruges and Saint-Trond, who face each other this evening.
