A major fire broke out early in the afternoon on Friday December 27 in a building on Avenue Charles de Gaulle in Cavaillon. It was a call made by a man, around 2 p.m., who raised the alarm. Flames began to spread into an apartment located on the third level of a four-story building. Around thirty firefighters were involved in this event.
What we know about the person found dead
On their arrival, the firefighters had to take charge of: nine intoxicated people including three national police officers, first responders to this event. An 89-year-old lady was also seriously inconvenienced and had to be urgently evacuated to the hyperbaric chamber of the Urbain V polyclinic in Avignon.
In total, around twenty people residing in the building had to be hastily evacuated by emergency services.
Once the fire was extinguished, firefighters unfortunately found a deceased person inside the apartment: a 65-year-old man. He was the one who called the fire brigade. The victim died trying to enter the apartment engulfed in flames.
