Following CAF’s decision to maintain the disqualification of Guinea Conakry from CAN 2025, the Guinean Football Federation reacted.
Determined to defend the interests of the national team, FEGUIFOOT announced that it would appeal this decision, which it considers both unfair and undeserved.
The complaint concerned the participation of a Tanzanian player who used a jersey number different from that listed on the official match sheet.
Although the Disciplinary Jury found the complaint admissible on the form, it ultimately rejected it on the merits, describing the arguments of the Guinean Federation as “ ill-founded ».
This decision by CAF maintains Tanzania’s qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) and excludes Guinea from the competition, a decision with which the Guinean Football Federation is not satisfied.
Faced with this setback, she requested the full motivations for the decision in order to better understand the arguments of the Disciplinary Jury.
This insight will make it possible to prepare a more solid defense in the context of the appeal. Federation officials say they are confident in their approach and hope to win their case with the higher authorities of CAF.
« We will continue to fight for justice. Our players, staff and supporters deserve to see their efforts recognized », declared a representative of FEGUIFOOT. This approach is part of a desire to preserve the integrity and fairness of sports competitions in Africa.
However, this appeal represents a significant challenge. The CAF, in its disciplinary decisions, applies strict rules, and overturning such a verdict is not easy. Meanwhile, Tanzania continues its preparations for the final phase of CAN 2025, scheduled in Morocco.
The Guinean Federation, although ruled out for the moment, is not giving up. It also plans to learn lessons from this experience to strengthen its strategy and organization for future sporting events.
In this case, FEGUIFOOT intends to recall the importance of strict and fair application of sporting regulations, an essential element for the development of African football.
