Universal Pictures has announced that Christopher Nolan's next project will be The Odyssey, a mythical action film shot with the new IMAX technology. The film will be released in theaters on July 17, 2026 and will be the first to present the main Homer saga on large IMAX screens.
Here's what we know
The Odyssey tells the journey of Odysseus, king of Ithaca, who has been trying to return home after the Trojan War for ten years. This epic work, written in the 8th or 7th century BC, will be another film in Nolan's biography.
The film has already confirmed the participation of stars such as Matt Damon, who returns to Universal after the success of Oppenheimer, as well as Charlize Theron, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o and Robert Pattinson. We therefore expect a stellar cast on screen.
This film will be Nolan's second collaboration with Universal Pictures following the success of Oppenheimer, which won seven Oscars, including Best Picture. Nolan is known for his epic works such as The Dark Knight, Interstellar and Dunkirk, so fans are eagerly awaiting a new interpretation of one of the most famous works of world literature.
