Four victories in five matches have allowed HGD to recover over the last month. Jonathan Lafrance's squad has the opportunity to distance itself from Morzine-Avoriaz, recently defeated at home, in this duel between victims of the Rouen Dragons in the Cup. A strong tribute to the victims of the recent killing of December 14 and to a loyal follower of the club gives way to a new show by Jeremiah Luedtke, in no way satisfied by his recent hat-trick on the ice of Brest.
Well launched by Carpentier on the lookout for a puck not controlled by Mingasov, the American plays Simon Zurawski (1-0 at 01'01″). A puck sent out of the playing area by Belharfi offers the opportunity to Luscombe, from the right circle, and Morozov, from the volley, to test Luba. In the wake of this power play, the HCMA remains in the offensive zone… only to be better countered, this time by Daneau, who finds the top of the cage, well launched by Luedtke (2-0 at 07'16″). Challenged in the process by Romain Carpentier, the visitors' goalkeeper was forced to freeze Luedtke's attempt, very coveted, but quickly a deviation from Vit Budínský caught him out (3-0 at 08'59″), the fault of a rearguard overwhelmed on each acceleration, one of his men even lying on the ice for a time to obstruct the northern plans. Hit on the helmet by a try from Torres, Zurawski acrobatically redeems himself.
The visitors benefited from a second superiority, during which Tom Combaz twice managed to prevent the Dunkirk clearance, the second to force Michael Luba to intervene in two stages. Perez's excess roughness restores the balance of power and the end of the third is less favorable to the Penguins, apart from a puck surge from Blake Luscombe on the right side. Overwhelmed at the restart by Antoine Torres, Anthony Mortas' team was in turn inferior when Premat was guilty of a delay in the game. Fortunately for the Haut-Savoyards, Dunkirk seemed to loosen the grip; Romain Carpentier cannot get on target and the penalty expires. A restart error even allowed Joan Cerda to have a duel with Luba, which Valentin Motreff followed well (3-1 at 29'58″). There was no time, however, to fear the start of a revolt as Timon Davranche re-established the comfortable maritime advantage, retaking Budínský's center (4-1 at 30'17″) to augur difficult times for the visitors.
Simon Zurawski, wanting to quickly relaunch a puck hit by Cruchandeau, was frightened by the generous number 32 of the Corsairs; he is more convincing in a double parade against Carpentier. And seeing the efforts of Jeremiah Luedtke to stop an Alpine action, we say to ourselves that the HGD can see what happens next. Antoine Torres is not happier in the conclusion, the rebound of his own shot being stopped, but the successive waves lead irremediably to a new fault from a defense now responding with muscles. As soon as the puck was reengaged, a shot from Luedtke ignited things again; the locals quickly came to their senses and a collective action was concluded by Zackary Daneau in the center (5-1 at 36'38″). The ease of Feliks Morozov being too little accompanied in the opposing territory, this difficult third period ended badly for Simon Zurawski, whose top corner was cleared by Clément Thomas (6-1 at 37'48″). On his knees in the last seconds, Germain Prenat loses one last puck in front of new entrant Matiss Bouvet.
The suspense having taken off for a while, the last period offers the Morzines the opportunity to raise their beaks slightly. Scalded by Antoine Torres twirling on the line completed by Belharfi whose turn of the cage is saved on the line, Morzine-Avoriaz manages to deceive Luba a second time, thanks to Blake Luscombe, insisting in front of the cage (6-2 at 43 '33″), but an acceleration from Hugo Deberge was illegally annihilated by Germain Premat, forced to take his place in the dungeon for the second time in the evening. On the massive attack Antoine Torres lets the power of his throw speak (7-2 at 46'00″). Saved by a post in front of Poirier, the HCMA struggled in the defensive withdrawal, the tireless Dinda and Torres taking advantage of the spaces to employ a vigilant Bouvet in the storm.
For the record, the third high-Alpine net, the work of Joan Cerda, livelier than the opposing defense (7-3 at 52'21″), is followed like its predecessors by a new Dunkirk net, an uncontrolled recovery of Timon Davranche, on the lookout for Budínsky's pass, waits patiently around the cage (8-3 at 54'04″). This double from the young Corsaire, named man of the match, punctuates a new offensive festival for Jonathan Lafrance's troop, still impressive this evening.
