Italy literally split in two at this seasonal juncture. In the north, except the last flakes on the border Alpswill be the sole to dominate the scene, as well as on much of the western side of the Peninsula and on Sardinia. In the rest of Italy, however, there will still be time disturbed with risk of snowfall even at low altitude, which will continue until Christmas morning.

As expected, the depression which 24 hours ago was centered on Abruzzo, has moved south-east and now we find it again on Puglia. All of Italy is affected by strong northerly winds that occur in the north favorabletherefore only relatively cold, while along the Adriatic side and in the south they provide very unstable weather, cold and snowfall.
The first map shows the precipitation sum expected in Italy throughout the day Tuesday 24 December:
Last in the north snowflakes on the border reliefs being attenuated, for the rest serene and clear, as well as in Tuscany and the middle Tyrrhenian side. On all other regions unstable weather with risk of precipitation even in the nature of downpour or thunderstorm, all accompanied by strong northerly winds and rough seas.
SNOW: in the morning beyond i 450 meters in the internal areas of Abruzzo and Molise, 600 meters on the Gargano, 450 meters on Lucania, 550 meters in Calabria and 900 meters in Sicily. In the afternoon snow in 350 meters in the internal areas of Abruzzo and Molise, 500 meters in Lucania, 600 meters on Calabria and 950 meters in Sicily. More snow on the evening 300 meters between Abruzzo and Molise, 600 meters on the Gargano, 500 meters in Lucania and 700 meters in Sicily.
Finally, this is the precipitation sum expected in Italy on the day of NATALE:
Showers on the middle Adriatic and on some areas of the south, but less intense compared to the last few days. We will also see a first wind drop starting from the north. A few more SNOWFALL beyond i 650-700 meters in Abruzzo, 700 meters between Calabria and Sicily, but the phenomena should ease over the course of the day. Great sun, clear skies and even a little cold during the day in the north and on the Tyrrhenian Sea.
