The left is between the skeptic and the critic. The center Democratic Union (UDC, conservative right) is against it. The other parties welcome the result, albeit with caution. The reactions below.
The Organization of the Swiss Abroad (OSA) speaks of good news for the more than 466,000 Swiss citizens living abroad in EU/EFTA countries.
The Swiss Union of Employers (USI), the economic association Economiesuisse and the industrial association Swissmem welcome the new agreements. The conclusion of the negotiations, they say, marks an important step towards sustainably guaranteeing the path already undertaken.
The Swiss Trade Union Union (SSU) and the Travailsuisse trade union criticize the agreement. They say it shows that wage protection is being dismantled.
For the Cantons a new chapter opens: the cantonal governments rejoice at this important milestone.
The SVP categorically rejected new treaties between Bern and Brussels. The party is against a “treaty of submission to the EU”. Opposition was also expressed on Friday morning, when the party leaders held a “vigil” in front of the Federal Palace.
The Center welcomes the fact that the Federal Council is subjecting the new points to a separate discussion. Now it will be a matter of verifying whether the outcome will provide viable solutions.
The Socialist Party says it is satisfied. The Federal Council, the party said, now has a duty to present a balanced overall package that safeguards wage protection.
The Radical Liberal Party (FDP, right) believes that the result is better than previous attempts, without, however, applauding or condemning the agreement.
The Greens, for their part, expressed great satisfaction with the conclusion of the negotiations. It is a liberation for Switzerland as a scientific and economic center.
