Maybe it wasn’t the result they were hoping for, but Scandiano and Correggio they hit 3-3 in the first derby of the championship A2 Series and both remain undefeated.
Correggio with 7 points is at the top of the standings, tied with Breganze, Scandiano is further back with 2, but with a game less. Centro Palmer starts the challenge with Raveggi, Deinite, Roca, Herrero and Barbieri, while Bdl Minimotor opposes Salines between the posts, Manuele Pedroni, Menendez, Casari and Holban. Righi is absent, with Tudela still half-fit. In the 3rd minute the guests take the lead with a shot from distance by Menendez, in the 16th minute Stefani misses the direct shot, but shortly after scores from close range on an assist by Roca. Stefani repeats and the half-time score is 2-1. In the 5th minute Manuele Pedroni levels the score and Correggio has the chance to take the lead with a direct shot by Casari that has no effect. Scandiano is also numerically inferior, but Roca starts the counterattack with Herrero who scores 3-2. Shortly after, however, a great number by Caroli and the final score is 3-3, even if in the final moments Roller hits two sensational posts and comes closer to victory.
“I am never satisfied by nature – says Mariotti, the Scandiano coach – and I can’t be after this derby that ended with a fair result, I think. We didn’t start well, but then we turned the result around and when we were ahead we should have managed the game better. My team is young and needs to grow a lot”.
“A point satisfies me – replies the Correggio coach Granell – and in the end the result is fair. In the first half we let ourselves be overtaken, but in the second half we changed our attitude, showing more character and rediscovering the plays we try during the week. We haven’t lost for a long time and this gives us extra confidence, we just have to continue like this”.
