Roche aux Fées community celebrate the day of solstice d’hiverce Saturday December 21 2024.

“La Roche aux Fées Essé (Ille-et-Vilaine), revealing all its singularity that day, will be enhanced at sunrise by the captivating musical selection of Vinyl Lovers and the illumination of the monument by the first rays of the sun, thus creating a magical atmosphere and mystical to celebrate this special day”, announces the intercommunality in a press release.

A magical day

December 21 is the shortest day of the year, the opportunity to observe a unique phenomenon at Roche aux Fées, namely the only day when the sun rises in the axis of the dolmen.

“Our ancestors deliberately oriented the dolmen in this way, creating a day full of celebration, whose importance at the time still resonates today,” adds Roche aux Fées community.

“The public is therefore invited from dawn to relive this magical day around a musical breakfast with the Vinyl Lovers. »

At 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., free guided tours of La Roche aux Fées will be offered to discover this historic site.

At 10 a.m., the Vinyl Lovers will host a blind test on the theme of the Sun. The meeting begins at 7 a.m. to observe the winter solstice.

Saturday, December 21, from 7 a.m. Sunrise at 8:52 a.m. Free guided tours at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. (reservations recommended). Blint-test on the theme of the sun 10 a.m. (registration on site).
