The NBA continues its attempt to make theAll Star Game an attractive appointment. For the 2025 edition (scheduled at the Chase Center in San Francisco) a real revolution is coming, as has emerged a few weeks ago.
The four teams
There will no longer be two teams but a mini-tournament with four formations. Three of these will be made up of 8 All Stars, selected from the 24 best players in the league (12 per Conference). The rosters will be composed of commentators Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith through a Draft. The fourth team will be the one to win the Rising Star Challenge on Friday, the general manager will be former WNBA legend Candace Parker. The coach of the team with the best record in the East and West will lead two of the All-Star teams, their respective assistants will coach the third team and the youth team.
Regulations and prizes
The semi-finals and final will be played consecutively Sunday 16 February. There will be no time, the matches will end when one of the two teams reaches 40 points. Cash prizes also for the ASG, on the basis of what was created for the NBA Cup. Each player of the winning team will receive 125,000 dollars, the athletes of the second team will pocket 50k each, 25,000 to all the others. Overall spending by the NBA of $1.8 million on prizes alone.
Dates and invitations
The 24 All Stars will be selected based on the vote of the fans (50%), colleagues (25%) and professionals (25%). The fans will also decide five players who will necessarily have to start in the starting lineup. Voting will be open from December 19th to January 20th. On the 23rd the 10 who are sure to start in the various starting five will be revealed, on the 30th the other 14 who will make up the roster will be announced. On February 6th, however, there will be the Draft in which Barkley, Shaq and Smith will choose their players and coaches.
