Federal elections Germany. Many aspiring chancellors but only Merz and Scholz possible winners

Early federal elections will be held in Germany on 23 February 2025. The Chancellor’s “traffic light” government Olaf Scholz (Social Democrats, Greens and Liberals) was voted out of confidence yesterday 16 December. There are many issues that the electoral programs of the parties will have to untie in order to get out Germany from the economic crisis (for the second year in a row it is in recession), social and political which sees an advance of the far right which rides on the migrant issue. The most accredited aspiring chancellors are Friedrich Merz conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and Olaf Scholz of the SPD. The others are probably only vying to have more communication spaces such as the leader of the nationalist left Sahra Wagenknecht of the BSW party. Christian Lindner will lead the FDP liberals, Robert Habeck the Greens and Alice Weidel the AfD. The polls show the allies CDU and CSU at 30%, in second place the far right AfD at 19%, the SPD at 17%, the Greens at 13, FDP at 4, BSW at 14%. 7.1 million people with a migration background will also vote. Early federal elections will be held in Germany on 23 February 2025. At the moment, public television has only forecast comparisons between Merz and Scholz.
