Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM) announced that during the period from December 5 to 11, 2024, the dirham remained almost stable against both the dollar and the euro.

In its weekly bulletin, BAM specifies that during this period, no auction operations were carried out on the foreign exchange market.

Concerning official reserve assets (AOR), they stood at 368.2 billion dirhams (MMDH) as of December 6, down 0.4% from one week to the next and up 3% in year-on-year.

The volume of Bank Al-Maghrib’s interventions amounted to MAD 152.8 billion on a daily average. It is divided between 7-day advances (63.7 billion dirhams), repos delivered in the longer term (51.9 billion dirhams) and guaranteed loans (37.1 billion dirhams).

On the interbank market, the average daily trading volume returned to MAD 2.4 billion and the interbank rate stood at 2.75% on average.

During the call for tenders on December 11 (value date of December 12), the Bank injected MAD 62.3 billion in the form of 7-day advances.

On the stock market side, the MASI depreciated by 0.3% during this week, bringing its performance since the start of the year to 21.5%.

This weekly development reflects in particular the decreases in the indices of the distributors sectors by 3.5%, transport services by 3.3% and telecommunications by 1.9%.

Conversely, the real estate and banking sectors grew by 2.5% and 0.3% respectively.

As for the weekly trading volume, it fell from one week to the next from 2.6 billion dirhams to 711.4 million dirhams.
