Space Marine 2 has just recently received a massive update with many new free features, here is what it brings to the very good title from Saber Interactive.
At the same time as the release of the anthology series Secret Level (which includes an episode dedicated to Warhammer 40,000) on Prime Video and the confirmation of a project to adapt the same universe with Henry Cavill for the Amazon platform, Space Marine 2 was receiving its fifth major update. This adds its share of new free content, but also paid content, as well as technical improvements in high demand on PC and PS5 Pro. Let's see all this in detail.
A Pro-fusion of new features for Space Marine 2 with update 5.0
For all players serving the Emperor in Space Marine 2, the game's 5.0 update adds new reasons to join the fight against the Forces of Ruin. This includes free content such as a new cooperative Operation. This brings us back to the cemetery world of Demerium, in a mission called Obelisk. It pits us against the heretical Space Marines of the Thousand Suns. They also take the opportunity to welcome a new unit: the Awakened of Tzaangor, a very fast demon moving on a Disc of Tzeentch.
Space Marine 2 also takes the opportunity to expand the range of options for personalizing your Adeptus Astartes with the much-requested Dark Angels pack (armor skins, various weapons and new cosmetic options). This is available at no additional cost to Battle Pass holders. Otherwise, you will have to purchase it for 9.99 euros. It is also finally possible to personalize the color of the lenses of our Space Marine's helmet.
The last big part of Space Marine 2 update 5.0 focuses on the technical aspect and is aimed on the one hand at owners of a PS5 Pro, with an optimization patch, but also to PC gamers. On PS5 Pro, this mainly involves PSSR, its exclusive upscaling technology. Thanks to it, the Quality mode will be able to switch to a maximum resolution of 2160p instead of 1440p on PS5 “fat”. Performance mode goes from a minimum resolution of 720 to 1080p, and from 1080p to 1440p at the maximum resolution. Finally, Performance mode at 60 FPS will also benefit from PSSR to try to reach a maximum resolution of 2160p. On the PC side, Space Marine 2 finally welcomes Frame Generation for DLSS 3.1 and FSR 3.
