A graduate of a management school and a business school, the director began his career as a bookseller within the L’Arbre à Lettres network, where he then held the position of general director. This Parisian network, known for its literary diversity and its neighborhood bookstores, included five establishments at the time.

With this experience in the world of bookstores, her career turned in 2008 to the challenges of digital technology in the book sector. He then created ePagine, a platform dedicated to the diffusion and distribution of digital books.

After transforming the tools of independent booksellers, Stéphane Michalon regains direct contact with the public by joining Librairie Nouvelle d’Orléans. Founded in 1545, it is among the oldest in . Located in the heart of Orléans, it has passed through the centuries and several families of owners before being bought, among others, in 2014 by the Albin Michel group.

This approach, led by Francis Esménard (CEO of Albin Michel), was part of a desire for cultural preservation and dissemination, through the support of independent bookstores. Since then, the bookstore has continued to offer a varied selection of books and organize literary events.
