Microsoft has announced several changes to its Xbox Game Pass service, including increased fees for several subscriptions and the addition of a new plan. We’re breaking it all down to help you navigate the process.

Starting July 10 in Canada, the cost of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for new members will increase from $18.99 per month to $22.99, but the service offering will not change. Ultimate provides access to free games on Xbox console, Cloud and PC, includes an EA Play subscription, offers online multiplayer and allows access to certain games on their first day of launch (“day one”). Starting September 12, existing Ultimate members will also see this same price increase.

Game Pass Core will also increase its price in Canada from $69.99 per year to $87.99. Same thing for dates, this price applies to new members since July 10 and will be activated for existing members as of September 12. The PC Game Pass plan, which gives access to PC games only, will increase from $11.99 per month to $14.99.

Another big change is the end of the Xbox Game Pass for Console plan. New members can no longer sign up for this plan as of July 10, but those who already have the subscription with auto-renewal will still be able to enjoy it for now. If you turn off auto-renewal, however, you will no longer be able to sign up for Game Pass for Console and will have to choose a different plan.

Essentially, the Xbox Game Pass for console plan will be replaced by Xbox Game Pass Standard, a new plan that offers access to the Game Pass catalog, but removes the offer to play games that launch on Xbox on day one. So, if you absolutely have to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 upon its launch on Game Pass in October, you will need to have kept automatic renewal on console or subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate.

According to GamespotMicrosoft had stated that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 wouldn’t be launching day 1 on a new Game Pass plan. That’s technically true, since it’ll be playable day 1 on the long-running Game Pass Ultimate. The catch is that it’ll no longer be playable on the Xbox Game Pass for console plan.
