A farmhouse in the open countryside went up in flames on the night of Wednesday December 4 to Thursday December 5, 2024. The fire occurred at a place called Chetiveau, in Chérancé in the north of Sarthe. Alerted around 12:30 a.m., more than twenty firefighters intervened aboard five vehicles from the emergency centers of Beaumont-sur-Sarthe, Mamers, Oisseau-le-Petit and Conlie. They were still there early in the morning.
According to the first elements of the investigation, it is a “accidental fire”specifies a gendarmerie officer. A chimney fire would have started between the attic and the smoke evacuation pipes. The roof then burst into flames. The house is partially destroyed.
